Julia Bauer

Renowned for her brilliant coloraturas as well as her breathtaking interpretations of classical and contemporary music, Julia Bauer distinguished herself as one of the most fascinating sopranos of her generation. Several engagements have, among others, lead Julia Bauer to the New National Theatre Tokyo, the Oregon Bach Festival of Eugene, USA, the Volksoper in Vienna, the Brucknerhaus in Linz and the Teatro de la Maestranza in Sevilla. 

Among the German opera houses where she has performed are the Semperoper in Dresden, the Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Staatsoper unter den Linden Berlin, the Aalto-Theatre Essen, the Leipzig Operahouse and the Staatsoper of Hannover. 

Julia Bauer has given numerous concerts such as with the Ensemble Intercontemporain the Solosoprano in Karlheinz Stockhausen's "Momente" in Paris, Monte-Carlo and at the Philharmonie Köln, with the Budapest National Philharmonic Orchestra in Händels Messiah, with Beethovens 9th Symphony in Barcelona, Valencia and Alicante. 

Her wide repertoire stretches from song recitals and Mozart concerto arias to Orchesterlieder by Berg, Mahler, Strauss and Zemlinsky. During the last seasons she was highly acclaimed for her interpretations as Lulu at the Aalto theatre Essen, as Zerbinetta in "Ariadne auf Naxos" in Valencia, Essen and Stuttgart, as Aminta in Richard Strauss' "The Silent Woman" in Sevilla, Essen and Chemnitz, as Leonora in Otto Nicolai's "Il Proscritto"in Chemnitz and as Lakmé in Lausanne. 

In 2009 her performance of Sierva Maria in the German premiere of Peter Eötvös' opera "Love and other Demons" caused an outburst of enthusiastic applause in the German feuilletons. 

Recently she debuted at the Berlin Philharmonie under Marek Janowski.

She has worked with conductors such as: Daniel Barenboim, Frank Beermann, Dan Ettinger, Riccardo Chailly, Sir Andrew Davis, Peter Eötvös, Josep Pons, Helmut Rilling, Ulf Schirmer, Michael Schønwandt and Stefan Soltesz.

Con il  virtuosismo di Zerbinetta e l'intensità di una Leonore di Fidelio, Julia Bauer si getta nella calda battaglia dei suoni. Nelle sue arie  dimostra di essere in grado di produrre ornamenti e acuti stratosferici.

È lei l'eroina voluta dal compositore. Julia Bauer supera questo ruolo estremamente difficile in modo sovrano e già solo grazie a lei questo CD merita una raccomandazione."
