Scott Mac Allister

Scott MacAllister - Tenor

Scott MacAllister was born in Glenwood Springs, Colorado and studied at the University of Idaho (Bachelor of Music), followed by studies at the New England Conservatory of Music, where he graduated with distinction (Master of Music). After an engagement at the Western Opera San Francisco for two seasons, Scott MacAllister went to Europe, where he spent four seasons at the Royal Opera de Wallonie in Liège and then went on to the Nationaltheater Mannheim, where he remained a member of the ensemble for several years.
Here he performed roles such as
Hoffmann / Hoffmanns Erzählungen, Riccardo / Un ballo in maschera, Max / Der Freischütz, Parsifal, Bacchus / Ariadne auf Naxos, Don Jose / Carmen and Alwa / Lulu.

For several seasons now Mr. MacAllister has been performing with major opera companies such as the Staastoper Hamburg, Semperoper Dresden, Teatro La Fenice Venice, Santa Fe Opera, Nagoya Symphony Japan, deNederlands Opera in Amsterdam, Accademia di Santa Cecilia Rome, Oper Frankfurt and the Staatsoper Budapest. At the Klangbogen Festival in Vienna he was the understudy for Placido Domingo in the part of
Goya in Menotti's opera.

Last season included performances of
Lohengrin at the Oper Leipzig, Staatsoper Stuttgart und Nürnberg, Tannhäuser at the Aalto Theater in Essen, Staatsoper Hannover, Deutsche Oper Berlin and at the Beijing Music Festival, Kaiser / Frau ohne Schatten in Hamburg and Florestan / Fidelio at the Oper Zürich. In May of 2009 Mr. MacAllister sang the role of Siegfried at the Washington Opera with major success.

In addition to his operatic performances, Scott MacAllister's repertory also includes oratories, such as Verdi's
Requiem, Beethoven's IX Symphony, Puccini's Missa da Gloria and Britten's War Requiem. In June 2008 he sang Beethoven's IX Symphony with the Sydney Symphony in the Sydney Opera House in Australia and again in August in Spain under the baton of Lorin Maazel. In November 2009 the tenor performed again Beethoven`s IX Symphony in Cagliari under the baton of Pinchas Steinberg, in December in Palermo under the baton of Alberto Veronesi. In September 2010 he travels to Tokyo to perform with the New Japan Philharmonic.

Future engagements include
Tannhäuser and Mahlers VIII Symphony at the Beethoven Festival in Bonn, Das Lied von der Erde in Neapel under the baton of Jeffery Tate, Tannhäuser at the Teatro Verdi Trieste, Siegfried with Stefan Anton Reck in New Production in Bari, Radames / Aida at the Cologne Opera and his debut as Cardinal in Mathis der Maler at the Opéra Bastille in November of 2010.
