Brigitte Jäger - Soprano

One of the successful german sopranos, with a voice of challenging beauty, broad range and power, considered one of the promising modern exponents of a rich repertoire. She studied at the Berlin University of the Arts. Her first steps led her to the Musik-Theatre Gelsenkirchen, where she made her debut as Composer / Ariadne auf Naxos, stayed in the cast and performed a.o. a successful Zdenka / Arabella until she moved to Bremerhaven, where she made her professional debut in several operas and operettas.

1997 she won the “Concorso Lirico Internazionale Iris Adami Corradetti” in Padua (Italy), as a result of this success she was invited by several italian Theatres (Padova, Cagliari, Novara, Savona a.o.). Her interpretation of
Violetta / La Traviata gained her further acclaim among italian critics and audiences. She performed the four different soprano parts in Les contes d`Hoffmann in Ravenna, Ferrara and Lucca, and as Donna Anna / Don Giovanni in Savona, Imperia, Alessandria and La Spezia. In Novara she celebrated her debut as Leonora / Il Trovatore.

In 2000 she sang at the Zurich Opera covering a repertoire that included
Ortlinde / Walkyrie and Gutrune / Götterdämmerung, conducted by Franz Welser Moest and produced by Robert Wilson. This production was followed by Der Kreidekreis (Zemlinsky) conducted by Alan Gilbert and produced by David Pountney also in Zurich. A next professional step led her to the Wiener Volksoper where she created a furore as Mimi / La Boheme and as Rosalinde / Die Fledermaus. In 2004/05 Brigitte Jäger returned to Germany and agreed to perform at the national Reisopera Netherland, singing again Rosalinde. After this unusual and critically acclaimed project, she toured Tokyo, notably portraying the role of Fiordiligi / Cosi fan tutte.

The IBLA-Foundation enabled her to perform at Carnegie Hall in New York. She won the BELLINI -AWARD in addition to the IBLA Festival in Sicilia. In 2006/07 this was followed by series of successful appearances at the National Theatre in Mannheim as
Donna Elvira / Don Giovanni.

She had several guest engagements at the Bavarian State-Opera in Munich and also performed again as Donna Elvira at the Royal Opera in Copenhagen. In 2008 she made her first performance as Tosca in Novara and Mantova and took part in the new years series of concerts of the “Tonkünstler Niederösterreich” under the conductor Alfred Eschwé.

In summer 2009 she sang the
IX Symphony at Teatro Regio Torino under Daniele Rustioni, in march 2010 in the production Elias at RAI in Torino conducted by Hansjörg Albrecht.
In 2011 she performed again the
IX Symphony at the Berliner Philharmonie with the AOB Orchster conducted by Peter Aderhold.
